Workshop Options: Robogals Monash
Spike Prime / EV3 Robotics Workshops
The Robogals Basic workshop engages students with Lego Mindstorms robots, either Spike Prime Education or EV3. Students learn the basics processes used in programming languages in a visual and interactive way. The students learn how to steer the robots robots using a series of movement commands and the robot's colour sensor. The students then combine their learned knowledge during the session to battle other students in a large robot sumo-wrestling competition. Pupils do not need prior programming knowledge and it is a great way to heighten their problem solving, critical thinking skills and technical aptitude.
Duration: 60-90 minutes | Preferred number of students: up to 30 | Aimed at: Upper Primary and Secondary students
Case Studies
Robogals also offers a number of case studies, such as our housing case study and water filtration case study. These are usually run as part of an incursion program, with the lego mindstorms robots as another part of the program. The case studies we offer aim to engage students problem solving skills in a number of ways, along with other skills such as speaking skills when they present their ideas to the rest of the class.
